Related Services

The Related Services Department supports Broward County Public Schools by providing specialized services that help students overcome barriers to learning. Speech-language pathologists assist students with communication challenges, including articulation, voice, fluency, and language disorders. They deliver therapy in classrooms or small groups and collaborate with teachers to support communication needs.
 

The Related Services Department provides support to all Broward County Public Schools for the areas listed below.

Speech and language impairments significantly affect language use or understanding, speech sound production, voice loudness, quality, or pitch, or the ability to initiate or maintain the rate and rhythm of speech. The speech-language pathologist may provide speech and language therapy services, in small groups, or in a student’s classroom. The speech-language pathologist may also provide information and support to the classroom teacher.

Orthopedic impairments include skeletal, muscular, or neuromuscular problems that adversely affects a student’s educational performance.
