Private Schools

The Broward County Public Schools Federal Programs Department ensures that students attending private schools have access to high-quality educational opportunities. School districts are required to provide eligible private school students with supplemental educational services that are equitable to those offered to public school students.

Under Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), participating districts must provide eligible private school students, teachers, and families with services equivalent to those provided in public schools.

The program offers supplemental educational services to help all students receive a high-quality education. To qualify, private school students must live within the attendance area of a participating Title I public school in a low-income area and show a risk of academic difficulty. These services supplement rather than replace the private school's regular curriculum.

The department collaborates with private school officials through timely and meaningful consultation to design and implement effective, equitable programs for all eligible students.
