Leadership Development

The Leadership Development Department is committed to delivering personalized and impactful professional learning and support for current and aspiring school leaders through the leadership pipeline programs outlined below.The comprehensive pipeline of programs is designed to support and grow current and aspiring leaders across all levels of the school system. From early-stage development programs like Leadership Experiences and Administrative Development (LEAD) and Principal Rapid Orientation and Preparation in Educational Leadership (PROPEL) for teachers aspiring to become administrators, to advanced preparation for principal roles through the Principal Preparation Program to targeted induction and support for new leaders in the First Year Assistant Principal and First Year Principal programs. Continued development is also provided for district personnel through the District Leadership Preparation Program and the District Leadership Support Program.

Our programs are designed to cultivate dynamic leaders equipped with strong interpersonal, communication, conceptual, and team leadership skills. With a focus on coaching and continuous development, we empower school leaders to drive academic growth and foster effective learning environments. Collectively, these programs ensure a robust leadership pipeline tailored to the diverse needs of Broward County Schools and students.

• Join an advisory group or committee to consult schools, departments and the district on a variety of issues and to Let Your Voice Be Heard!
• In Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), parent collaboration with school leadership is

  encouraged and facilitated through various avenues to enhance student success and engagement.  BCPS has a dedicated Parent and Community Engagement Department and emphasizes the importance of two-way communication and active participation in a child's education.

• Parents and the community can assist in school improvement through our Parent Engagement Program and Parent Academy Initiatives.

• If you have a concern about a school, we encourage you to contact the school first. If the issue is not resolved or requires further assistance, please contact the appropriate regional office or the School Transformation Office. These offices support schools and ensure all students receive a high-quality education in a safe and nurturing environment.
