Mental Health Assistance Allocation Region Team (MHAART)

The Mental Health Assistance Allocation Regional Team (MHAART) is a group of mental health professionals who help students, teachers, and schools during tough times. Their job is to reduce stress, emotional challenges, and other issues that make learning or teaching harder.

MHAART also leads crisis response, which means they step in to support school communities after serious events like the death of a student or staff member, a natural disaster, or a tragedy that affects the community.

School principals or district mental health staff can refer a school to MHAART when extra support is needed. The team works quickly to help restore a sense of safety and calm so students and teachers can focus on learning again.

The MHAART Team consists of 10 Family Therapists & 10 Social Workers to support every BCPS school, as well as 2 Family Therapists who serve on the District Threat Management Team.   Five regional teams were created to be able to provide services in a timely manner in each region as needed:
