Community Impact Engagement & Legislative Advocacy

The School Board of Broward County, FL, believes that strong public schools are built through strong community voices. Community impact engagement and advocacy connect students, families, educators, business leaders, and residents with the legislative priorities that shape our schools at both the state and federal levels.

Through meaningful engagement, we ensure our Board-approved legislative platform reflects the lived experiences, needs, and aspirations of the diverse communities we serve.

Community engagement plays an important role in shaping and refining the District’s legislative priorities. Feedback gathered through meetings, advisory groups, surveys, and public input helps the School Board and District leadership:

  • Identify emerging issues affecting students and schools
  • Understand the real-world impact of policies and funding decisions
  • Strengthening advocacy positions with local examples and data
  • Ensure legislative priorities reflect community values

This collaborative approach ensures our legislative platform is not just a policy document, but a reflection of the Broward County community.

Community advocacy is more than participation — it is partnership.

When our community engages in advocacy efforts:

  • Student needs are better represented in funding and policy decisions

  • Local priorities gain visibility among state and federal lawmakers

  • Families and educators help shape solutions to challenges facing schools

  • Trust and transparency grow between the District and the public

  • Public education remains responsive to evolving community needs

Legislative decisions directly affect classroom resources, student services, safety initiatives, workforce programs, and educational opportunities. Community input helps ensure those decisions reflect the real impact on Broward County students and schools.
