BCPS Legislative Platforms

At a Special School Board Meeting held today, The School Board of Broward County, Florida, approved the 2026 State and Federal Legislative Platforms—comprehensive policy frameworks that outline the District’s top advocacy priorities for the upcoming legislative sessions. Developed through extensive collaboration among District departments, leadership, and the School Board, these platforms serve as the foundation for advancing legislation that supports the success, safety, and well-being of every student in Broward County Public Schools.

The platforms highlight shared priorities across both levels of government, focusing on funding, workforce recruitment and retention, academic excellence, technology, school safety, wellness, and operational stability. While both the state and federal documents address these core themes, each is tailored to the respective policymaking process—ensuring BCPS advocacy is focused, strategic, and impactful at every level.

Through these platforms, the District will continue to advocate for increased investment in K–12 education, full federal funding for IDEA and Title I, expanded school safety and mental health resources, and sustainable financial support to close the current structural funding gap. These priorities reflect Broward’s ongoing commitment to ensuring safe learning environments, supporting educators, and delivering equitable opportunities for all students.
