Marketing & Communications

The Marketing Department and the Media Relations Department serve as conduits of information for internal and external stakeholders.

Media Relations manages press and external media engagement, while the Marketing team leads social media, the District website, branding, and operation of the District switchboard.

Broward County Public Schools values its relationship with the news media and recognizes the essential role journalists play in informing the public, promoting transparency and supporting a well‑informed community.

Our goal is to foster a cooperative, professional and respectful relationship with members of the media – one that ensures timely and accurate information while maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff.

Media Inquiries

All media inquiries – including requests for interviews, comments, general information or visits to schools should be emailed to the Media Relations Office at BCPS.PIO@Browardschools.com.

Public Records

Broward County Public Schools complies with Florida public records laws. Requests for data or documentation should be directed to the District’s Public Records Office at RecordRequests@browardschools.com.

Media Access to School Campuses

Members of the media have the right to conduct business from any public area around a school campus; however, activities should not impede traffic or obstruct sidewalks.

To gain access to a school campus, advance approval must be obtained from the Media Relations Office. If approval is granted, media must:

Check in at the school’s main office upon arrival
Present valid government-issued identification
Follow all school safety and visitor protocols

Unauthorized access to school grounds or classrooms may result in the individual being asked to leave campus.

Videos, Interviews and Photography

Media representatives may not capture images or interview students on campus without approval from the Media Relations Office.
No student or staff is obligated to participate in media interviews or recordings.

Employees may not speak on behalf of the district unless authorized
Staff members who wish to speak with media in a personal capacity must do so on their own time and not represent their views as those of the district

District Community Relations

The Community Relations team facilitates community involvement in District events and provides coordination and planning for participation in community events, including the annual Caliber Awards, and Community Involvement Awards.

The team also facilitates relationships between the community and District through:

Volunteer Services
The Superintendent's Screening Program
Community projects with businesses, government and non-profit organizations
Partnership programs that support the District's strategic goals
The District’s community/employee recognition programs
