Central Processing Lab (CPL) documents and catalogs all instructional materials and handles the revitalization of school-based media centers. CPLs principal activities relate to the acquisition, preparation, shelving, and relocation/reallocation of media materials for Broward County Public Schools and Centers.

Inventory System

The Destiny web-based software system is utilized to identify materials, generate Dewey decimal identification, create MARC records, and input item(s) into the District-wide library collection database.

Services CPL Provides:

• CPL assists with basic library operations, such as: processing new instructional materials, weeding out obsolete materials, and annual physical inventory. The objective is 100 percent compliance with School Board Policy 6317 (School Media Centers).
• When school locations and centers undergo renovations, CPL supports the organization and shelving of media center collections.
