The Department of Safety and Security is dedicated to ensuring the protection of all students, staff, and visitors in Broward County Public Schools, administrative centers, and special event venues.

Monday

 

Oct. 20th

 

  • Physical Security
  • Maintain Controlled Access: Ensure all exterior doors are secured and wear your BCPS ID badge at all times. Challenge anyone not wearing an ID who does not appear to be an authorized visitor.
Tuesday Oct. 21st
  • Student & Staff Wellness
  • Know Your Life-Saving Equipment: Locate your nearest AED (Automated External Defibrillator) unit and ensure trained personnel are available. Report any safety hazards to Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S).

Wednesday

Oct. 22nd

  • Emergency Preparedness
  • Review your EOP & Evacuation Routes: All staff and students must be familiar with your school's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and clearly posted evacuation and lockdown procedures.

Thursday 

Oct. 23rd

  • Drills and Exercises
  • Treat Drills Seriously: Participate fully in all required fire, active threat, and emergency drills (per Florida Code) to ensure a swift and coordinated response in a real crisis.
Friday Oct. 24th
  • Community & Partnership
  • Engage Our Community Partners: Safer schools are a shared responsibility. Connect with parents, local law enforcement (BCPS Police), and community agencies to enhance safety planning and awareness.
