Introduction

The Campus Monitor Endorsement Program (CMEP) is a comprehensive training program designed specifically for our Campus Monitors who are interested in growing with the District and elevating their career to the next level. This program offers a structured pathway toward qualifying for a promotion as a Security Specialist and is offered several times a year. 

Qualifications for the Program:

  • Current employment as a Campus Monitor with Broward County Public Schools
  • No less than four full years of service as a Campus Monitor with Broward County Public Schools
  • No history of corrective action
  • No overall evaluation rating other than “Excels” or “Satisfactory.”

 

Applying for the Program:

Campus Monitors will receive an e-mail announcing the opening of the CMEP application window. Interested parties should review the application packet in its entirety and apply within the described time period. Late/incomplete applications will not be reviewed. 

CMEP Course Types 

CMEP Foundations
for Campus Monitors without a valid State of Florida Class D Security Officer License

This five-day (40-hour) course is designed to introduce you to the wide array of concepts and practices necessary to build a solid foundation of security proficiency as it applies both in and out of the educational environment. Completion will earn participants the State of Florida Class D Security Officer License. This course includes CMEP Enhanced curriculum as described below.

CMEP Enhanced
for Campus Monitors with a valid State of Florida Class D Security Officer License

This two-day (16-hour) course introduces you to the security concepts and practices necessary to effectively operate in roles of greater responsibility within Broward County Public Schools. The primary emphasis of this curriculum is Security Specialist duties, but will also include general leadership as well as familiarization with tasks and responsibilities as they pertain to school security.

How do I apply for CMEP?


The CMEP selection committee will announce via e-mail when the program is accepting new registrants. Interested parties should review the application instructions completely and apply by the deadline.

What happens after I graduate from CMEP?

Campus Monitors who successfully complete and graduate from either CMEP course will be eligible to apply for Security Specialist positions throughout the District. CMEP graduates will still need to apply and interview for these roles. Completion of the program does not guarantee future promotion.
