The Historic Hammerstein House at Hollywood Historical Society 

🏡 Explore the Historic Hammerstein House

Step back in time and explore the early days of Florida’s development at the home of Clarence and Vera Hammerstein. Students will tour the house with all of the Hammersteins’ original furnishings and journey through history from the 1920s to the present. Each visit also features a rotating exhibit highlighting unique aspects of Hollywood and Florida history.


Highlights & Attractions 

Inside the House:

  • Explore rooms, furnishings, and souvenirs from the Hammersteins’ life
  • See treasures from their world travels 
  • Discover vintage technologies like televisions, encyclopedias, and washing machines 
  • View original military uniforms, the iconic “Vera” dress, and china and tableware with fascinating stories behind each piece 
  • Learn about Florida native plants and the Hammersteins’ fruit-bearing mango trees 

Guided Tours:

  • Led by trained docents, using visual learning strategies to engage students in the history and stories of the Hammersteins

  • Note: Stairs and steps are required to access the house and second story

  • Students: $5 per student
