At History Fort Lauderdale, we use the stories of our own community to explore the broader narrative of 🇺🇸 American and world history. Through our exhibits and programs, students and visitors experience firsthand how national and global events — like the Great Depression, the expansion of railroads, and the World Wars  — impacted real people in South Florida.

Our mission is to make history personal, meaningful, and relevant. By learning local history, students also absorb the values, struggles, and cultural identity that shape the American experience. Our museums offer a window into the past — not just for students, but for families and visitors of all ages.

Interactive Programs That Inspire Young Minds

Bring your classroom to life with a field trip to History Fort Lauderdale! We offer a variety of hands-on, curriculum-based educational programs that explore:

Local History – Learn about the founding and growth of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County through engaging, interactive modules. 
History & Science Connections – Participate in science-based programs that show how innovation and discovery shaped our past.

🏠 Each Field Trip Includes Guided Tours of:

  • The Main History Museum (New River Inn)

  • The Pioneer House Museum (King-Cromartie House)

  • The 1899 Replica Schoolhouse Museum

Programs are designed for grades K–12 and align with educational standards.

📋 Field Trip Details & Policies

  • $7.00 per student

  • $10.00 per chaperone/parent

  • Free for teachers and school staff

👥 Group Size & Scheduling

  • For groups of 50+ students, we recommend splitting visits across multiple days.

  • Programs run approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

  • Please arrive on time and check in at:

💳 Payments

  • A 50% deposit is recommended at the time of booking.

  • We accept:

    • Cash 

    • Check (payable to Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Inc.) 

    • Credit card 

❌ Cancellations

  • Please give 72-hour notice for cancellations.

🍽️ Additional Tips

  • Pack brown bag lunches and enjoy them at our picnic tables by the New River.

  • Some groups like to bring a potluck-style lunch for a fun group experience.

♿ Accessibility

  • The 1899 Schoolhouse is wheelchair accessible.

  • The second floor of the New River Inn and the King-Cromartie House are not wheelchair accessible.

  • A memorable, standards-aligned learning experience for all students
