IMPORTANT UPDATE: "i Haven't received MY notification"

Due to technical issues, some families may not have received an email during the notification distribution week (May 26 - May 31, 2026). Focus has been notified and is actively working toward a resolution.

To ensure awarded applicants received notice of their award, the Office of School Choice directly sent individual notifications via email and/or text message informing parents of the awarded seat and required steps to be taken by the deadline. Families who did not receive this communication were not selected in the computerized random selection process. However, all applicants are able to view their current status via the Focus Parent Portal.

EXCITING NEWS!

Cycle Two of the Late Application Window will be available June 8 - July 16, 2026.

Families interested in applying for a reassignment, magnet, and/or Nova school may submit an application during the Late Application window. This opportunity is also available to applicants who may have applied to a school during the Open Enrollment window and are considering other academic experiences that BCPS offers. Submitting an application during the Late Application window will NOT affect the status of an application submitted during the Open Enrollment window.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you submitted an application during Cycle One of the Late Application Window (April 1 - May 15, 2026), submitting an application during Cycle Two will OVERWRITE your Cycle One application. If you are in the wait pool (Not Selected) or were awarded a seat from Cycle One, that application will be canceled.

School Choice (BCPS School Board Policy 6400) provides parents/guardians the option to request a different school other than the assigned school based on the child's home address.

If you're interested in applying to any of our school choice options, a BCPS student number is required before you can complete a School Choice application via the Focus Parent Portal.

Visit any BCPS school, with your government-issued ID and your child's birth certificate to request a student number. No registration required.
