STATUS

EXPLANATION

Awaiting Processing

• New Application or
• Application is being prepped for/participating in an upcoming computerized random selection process

Not Selected

• Student was not awarded via the computerized random selection process. (See notification letter for specific details) or
• Parent emailed School Choice a request to be added back to the wait pool after missing deadline Previously awarded, but deadline to accept seat online/register has passed.

Awarded, Must Accept Seat and Register at the School.

• Seat awarded. Parent must:
  • 1) accept awarded seat via the Focus Parent Portal by the communicated deadline (see notification letter) and
  • 2) complete registration at the awarded school.

Accepted

• Parent has officially accepted the awarded seat by the deadline. 
  • Parent can only accept one award. All other applications with a status of "Awarded...", will be declined, automatically.
  • If parents previously accepted a seat awarded during this application year, they must email schoolchoice@browardschools.com, by the deadline (see notification letter), to request that the previously accepted seat be declined and the new award be accepted.

Declined

• Deadline to accept award (via the Focus Parent Portal) and register at the awarded school has passed.
  • If parent wishes to have the application added back to the wait pool may send an email, with the subject "Add to wait pool" to  schoolchoice@browardschools.com. The email must include the student's:
    • Name
    • BCPS student ID
    • the specific application they wish to have added back to the wait pool (school/type of application)

Or

• Parent accepted another awarded seat, or
• Parent canceled application, or
• District canceled application (e.g. active rescission on file) See notification letter for specific details.
