Behavior Intervention and Expulsion

Overview

Expulsion Abeyance

The Behavior Intervention Program and Expulsion Office exists within the Department of School Culture and Student Support. Working collaboratively with schools and school leadership, District-wide, the office upholds the requirements of the Code of Student Conduct and School Board Policy 5100, while providing windows of opportunity for students to engage in Behavior Intervention Programming in an effort to maintain academic engagement, access support services, increase awareness of school expectations, and shape student behavior.

Through proactive interventions such as substance probationary contracts and alternative probationary contracts, students are able to maintain enrollment in their traditional school while receiving behavioral support and guidance. However, there are times when a student must be removed from their traditional school for behavioral reasons. In these instances, the Behavior Intervention and Expulsion Office serves as a resource to students, families, and their representatives, District-wide.
