Introduction:

Athletic Leadership Academy (ALA) is a mentorship program designed to provide guidance and support to student-athletes in both their athletic and personal lives. It is an initiative of Broward County Public Schools' Department of School Culture and Student Support.  This program was established to enhance the mental well-being of student-athletes through an innovative and indirect approach. ALA operates as successful coaches, educators, community leaders, and entrepreneur led mentorship program, offering motivational, educational, transitional, financial, and spiritual mentorship styles. This program emphasizes a practical approach to leadership and personal growth. Participants in the program, known as Mentors, focus on developing Broward County Student-Athlete’s character by giving back to younger student-athletes, referred to as Mentees. Athlete Mentees will have access to networks, programs, and resources, including internship and scholarship opportunities.

Mission:

Our purpose is to spark and enhance everyone's mindset and skills so they can LEAD with purpose, solve problems, and serve others.  We enhance EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE and POSITIVE CULTURE through team sessions, all-sports workshops, and individual coaching from our Mentors and Community Leaders.  By encouraging dreams of attending higher learning institutions, we not only promote self-worth but also enhance self-esteem. ALA recognizes and harnesses the significant role of organized sports in channeling the energies and talents of student-athletes positively, contributing to the overall well-being of society.
