Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) or vaping of e-cigarettes among youth has become a national epidemic.

To provide greater awareness regarding the prevention and intervention resources, Broward County Public Schools has developed a tiered curriculum structure for students.

Tier 1 Resources For All Schools

Tier 1 curriculum and resources are intended for all schools to utilize as their E‑Cigarette & JUUL Prevention Program. Curriculum is provided by CATCH My Breath™, a prevention program specific to students’ use of E-cigarettes. Visit www.catchmybreath.org for program and resources for elementary school students, grade 5-12. Teachers must create an online account to view and utilize the curriculum, videos, and parent resources. This curriculum is provided at no cost to schools.

Tier 2 Resources for ISS and Short-Term AES Programs

Tier II resources are intended for schools to utilize as intervention curriculum within their Internal School Suspension (ISS) and short-term Alternative to External Suspension (AES) programs. The curriculum is adapted from materials provided by Scholastic, specifically targeting students who have been provided a school level consequence for the possession or use of E-Cigarettes. The curriculum focuses on teaching students the dangers and health risks associated with the use of E-Cigarettes and vaping.
