These Internet safety curricula will help you provide the highest quality education in a safe, respectful, and violence-free environment. We recommend you choose an evidence-based curriculum or proven program, but have provided other options as well. For a much more extensive list of Internet safety resources, BCPS employees can go to our department's SharePoint resource warehouse. For the most updated curriculum, go to its website. A resource aimed at creating a way to educate, communicate, and report online abuse. It has supporting resources for students, parents, caregivers, and educators on online safety to keep themselves and their computers safe from harm.

Each Monthly Character Education Newsletter and Family Newsletter contains lessons, videos, and activities on BCPS's 8 character traits. These traits promote positive behavior and create a safer and more respectful learning environment for our students. 
common sense education

Common Sense Education, Digital Citizenship Curriculum

Grades K-12

The online curriculum is made up of 65 grade-differentiated lesson plans. The Scope & Sequence consists of 3 units for grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8, and 4 units for grades 9-12. Each unit has 5 lessons, family activities, and professional development resources. Topics include cyberbullying, privacy, safety, and more. Grades K-12

Delivers free engaging digital resources to equip students with critical skills for success beyond the classroom. The digital education platform has free lessons, videos, surveys, assessments, and interactive exercises that teach financial capability, character, substance abuse prevention, STEM, health & wellness, social-emotional learning, relationship skills, cultural & civic literacy, and career preparedness.

FL DOE Comprehensive Health Education Mandates

Grades K-12

The State Board of Education Rule 6A-1.094121, F.A.C., requires a minimum of five hours of instruction related to mental and emotional health education for every student in grades K-12 annually. The content areas to be taught are mental and emotional health, substance use and abuse prevention, internet safety and/or human trafficking, and character education.

Provides lessons and videos preparing students for life in the 21st century while exceeding CIPA/E-Rate requirements. Topics include cyberbullying, academic dishonesty, digital safety, privacy, and security. Access lessons via our department's SharePoint.

Kindness in the Classroom, Random Acts of Kindness

Grades K-12

Offers free lesson plans, kindness projects, and kindness club ideas. The curriculum features developmentally appropriate, standards-aligned lessons teaching important social and emotional (SEL) skills.

Grades K-12

The toolkit includes presentations, videos, and brochures (order online) encouraging students and parents to reduce online risks and cyberbullying. Available via our department's SharePoint or online.

The Support Group Method of Bullying Intervention

Grades 6-12

This 7-step, non-punitive, group intervention seeks to reduce bullying by increasing empathy and bystander action.
