Are your students ready to participate in intramural sports, but you don’t have a gym or a field to host home games? This premium service is for your school. Middle School Athletics Association (MSAA) Home Games provides charter schools with security, officials, event supervisors, scheduling (and rescheduling, if necessary), and other services provided by hosting venues. It is important to carefully review MSAA participation requirements and be sure to adhere to them throughout the year. If this is your first year participating and uncertain of your ability to field a complete team, we recommend building your athletics program for one year before participating.

What are my responsibilities?

Decide which three sports your school will participate in. Agree to MSSA Rules and Regulations including the possibility of forfeiting games for the rest of the season without a refund if you are unable to field a team. Promote and enroll both a boys' and a girls' team for selected sports. Ensure that communication from the Student Activities and Athletics Department is accessible to your school’s Athletic Director.

The Educational Assessment, Analysis & Research (EAAR) Department offers charter schools access to three voluntary District-wide assessments. Updates about these Assessments are posted to the Testing Calendar 25-26 throughout the school year. Information on the Testing Calendar supersedes information on this website. 

Deadline: September 8, 2025

Provide your staff with support to develop, implement, monitor and collect data on behavioral referrals. This service is recommended to begin upon the fifth behavioral referral. 

How do I get started?

• Confirm that your school has opted into the most current edition of The Student Code of Conduct
• Obtain the most recent version of the Behavior Intervention Committee Handbook from the Student Services Department’s website
• Ensure that required interventions and student data are entered into the Behavioral and Academic Support Information System (“FOCUS”) in accordance with the most recent BIC Handbook
• Enter discipline incidents and consequences into TERMS

Broward Truancy Intervention Program services are available to charter schools that are scheduled to receive School Social Work Services. BTIP is for elementary students that exhibit behavior consistent with a pattern of nonattendance with documented interventions that have been unsuccessful in remediating truancy. Multiple documented levels of services and personnel, as well as a menu of strategies, are required to implement the BTIP process.

To begin the BTIP process, please speak to your Pooled Premium School Social Worker.

CPR, AED, and First Aid Training is a six-hour training for your school’s employees. Training is off-site for less than ten participants. Purchase ten or more and the trainer will come to your school. Participants will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR, AED, and Frist Aid certification card.  

When are trainings available?

CPR, AED and First Aid Trainings are available during normal business hours during a six-hour time frame. Teacher planning days are the most popular.

Venture Design offers two ways to support your 504 Liaison: 1) Small group Breakout Sessions and 2) Consultations.

Premium services from the Exceptional Student Education Department supports teachers and students beyond statutory requirements.

Breakout Sessions

Breakout Sessions are small group staff development sessions for new 504 Liaisons or those that need technical assistance beyond the average amount of support required by staff in the same role at most schools in the District. 

This Breakout Session meets once for four hours to assist liaisons with the implementation of information obtained at the District-wide annual 504 meetings and 504 Liaison Workshop.   

Consultations

Consultations with District staff in the ESE Department to improve your ability to manage your school's Section 504 program. Consultations are offered in one-hour sessions via phone or virtual meeting. We recommend pairing breakout sessions with consultations for the greatest impact.

Venture Design offers three ways to support your ESE Specialist: 1) Small group Breakout Sessions targeted to charter school ESE Specialists, 2) Consultations, and 3) Staff Training on topics related to the IEPs and EPs of your student population.

Consultations

Consultations with an ESE Program Specialist to improve your ability to manage your school's ESE program. Consultations are offered in one-hour sessions via phone or virtual meeting. We recommend pairing breakout sessions with consultations for the greatest impact. 

ESE Instructional Support Staff Training

One-, two-, or three-hour training sessions, for up to 35 participants, developed for the purpose of supporting staff in learning and applying strategies to support students with disabilities throughout daily instruction. Available topics:

Schedule ESE Specialist support services 

ESE Counseling as a Related Service is for students with disabilities. It is not therapeutic counseling. It is direct support provided by trained and certified professionals to assist students with personal/social adjustment issues that present a barrier to meeting goals on the IEP. The decision regarding the need for counseling as a related service may occur during the initial development of the IEP, annually at the IEP meeting, during reevaluation, or any other time members of the IEP team request that it be addressed.

We will reach out to you at the beginning of the school year to modify this list based on actual enrollment. 

Order the number of hours needed for the entire year. Payments are withheld in equal installments each month starting in July and ending in April. A true-up of rendered versus purchased units will occur by the June 2026 FTE Distribution.

Request ESE Counseling as a Related Service

Premium services from the ESOL/Bilingual Department supports staff in charter schools above and beyond statutory requirements. 

Schedule ESOL Support Services 

Health Screenings from Venture Design provides a health screening team to conduct health screenings for students in grades K, 1, 3, and 6 in the areas of hearing, vision, Body Mass Index (BMI), and scoliosis.

To place an order for HVB+Scoliosis or Scoliosis calculate the number of units needed for Hearing, Vision, BMI and Scoliosis Screening, add enrollment for grades K, 1, 3, and 6, plus students on RtI and New To County students. Divide the total by 25. To calculate the number of units needed for Scoliosis Screenings divide enrollment for grade 6 by 150. Screeners can only screen students with a Parent/Guardian Consent Form. Collect opt-in forms at the beginning of the school year and adjust your order quantity by September 8, 2025, to better reflect the number of students to be screened.

Hearing, Vision, BMI + Scoliosis Screening*

A team of screening professionals with screening equipment are scheduled to screen 25 students (1 unit) at your school. The school prepares and organizes paperwork prior to team arrival. One screening team member will return 10-14 days after the initial screening day to provide a follow-up screening to students referred for Hearing during the initial screening duration and to screen absent students. At the end of screening duration, the screening team delivers health screening paperwork to school staff. School staff is responsible for entering health screening data into TERMS and following-up with parents, the ESE Department, Heiken Vision Program, and The Department of Health, Florida. 

*Please note: all charter schools are required to have two people trained in Hearing Screening and have daily access to an audiometer and an APPOS vision screening kit for the purpose of screening students day by day as the need arises. Examples of an immediate need to screen a student for hearing or vision challenges are to rule out hearing or vision problems as a barrier to learning, when a charter school enrolls a new to Broward County student, and when a student is screened for Hearing on the follow-up day and is referred to be screened again in 10-14 days.

**The number of students per unit decreases if paperwork is not complete and organized by the time the School Health Screening Team arrives at the school.

Scoliosis Screening

One screening team member provides scoliosis screening to 125 students (1 unit) per day at your school.  The school prepares and organizes paperwork prior to team arrival. Purchase one additional unit for a screening professional to return to your campus to screen absent students. At the end of screening duration, the scoliosis screener delivers health screening paperwork to school staff for data entry and reporting.

Confirm Total Number of Students to Be Screened by August 28, 2026.

Occupational Therapy services are consistent, high quality and up to date with Broward County Public Schools compliance standards and current systems. 

Order the number of hours needed for the entire year. Payments are withheld in equal installments each month starting in July and ending in April. A true-up of rendered versus purchased units will occur by the June 2026 FTE Distribution.

Physical Therapy (PT) services are consistent, high quality and up to date with Broward County Public Schools compliance standards and current systems. 

We will reach out to you at the beginning of the school year to modify this list based on actual enrollment. 

Order the number of hours needed for the entire year. Payments are withheld in 10% installments each month for ten months, starting in July and ending in April. The first payment on a late order includes all previous installments. A true-up of rendered versus purchased units will occur by the June 2025 FTE Distribution.

Assistance with behavior management is now available from PBIS Specialists in the School Culture and Climate Support Department. PBIS methods are research-based and proven to significantly reduce the occurrence of problem behaviors in school, resulting in a more positive school climate and increased academic performance. PBIS is a multi-tiered framework of behavioral supports that helps schools create safe and effective learning environments for students. Choose one or all the PBIS support services and provide your school staff with a dedicated PBIS Specialist to support your staff in learning and implementing the PBIS Framework.

Becoming a PBIS Certified School requires a structured approach to implementing positive behavior interventions. Begin with PBIS Tier 1 – Observation & Consultation to assess your current environment and receive expert guidance. Strengthen implementation with PBIS Tier 1 – Implementation Support, offered quarterly or monthly, to ensure sustainability. For targeted behavior support, PBIS Tier 2 – Team Training helps develop Tier 2 systems, while PBIS Tier 2 or 3 – Implementation Support provides additional coaching. If student-specific interventions are needed, PBIS Tier 3 – Student Specific Consultation, FBA/PBIP offers expert guidance in creating tailored behavior plans.

Request Speech Language Pathology (SLP) Services 

Student Enrichment in the Arts (SEAS) program provides educational and artistic opportunities to students for a fraction of the price of typical dance, musical and theatrical performances. Performances by The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Parker are available in the theater, as a school assembly on your campus or virtually. SEAS Performances bring storybooks and novels to life on stage. Each performance comes with a study guide that links the performance to Florida standards. 

• Broward Center Performances (In-Theater) – schools request to reserve a specific number of seats (# of students plus the number of chaperones) and make a payment to Venture Design within seven days. Modifications may be requested up to 30 days before the date of the performance, but may not be available as most shows are in very high demand and fill up quickly. Transportation is provided by your school.
• SEAS on Tour: On-campus Assemblies (In-School Residency) – For a minimum of 400 students. The stage travels to your school for an assembly-style performance. Many outreach shows are interactive and require audiences no smaller than 200 students and a minimum of two assemblies in one day.  

I want my students to experience SEAS Performances. What do I do next?

• Look out for notification through your school’s Office365 browardschools.com email account; Visit Eventbrite website to request the desired number of seats (teachers, chaperones and students) in sets of ten.
• Go to Venture Design’s online store and submit a work order for the number of seats requested. (Seats are sold in sets of ten.)
• A confirmation email will be sent to you from the SEAS Coordinator. (Your school is not confirmed until a confirmation email is received).

School Nurses are available on a short-term or long-term basis to support your school's Health Program.

School Social Work Services from the Student Services Department of Broward County Public Schools provides your school with a dedicated, on-campus, school social worker for a set number of days throughout the school year.

School Social Work (SSW) from the Student Services Department of Broward County Public Schools assigns a dedicated SSW to provide full-day services in support of your school’s existing student services.
