Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
Due to persistent overcrowding issues, the School Board is seeking to engage families, community members and other stakeholders in developing solutions to reduce enrollment at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
As this year’s process is focused on only one school and its neighbors, and because of the short timeline remaining for creating, vetting, and adopting changes for the 2023/24 school year, public engagement will be limited to the communities of Coral Springs and Parkland. Community members will be able to work with Demographics & Enrollment Planning staff to design viable proposals for relieving overcrowding at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and most efficiently utilizing District facilities.
All proposals received will be posted here for community review and commenting, and additionally will be presented to the community at large at a stakeholder meeting in November, where in-person discussion will take place.
All proposals and comments, as well as transcripts from the community discussions will be shared with the School Board at a workshop in January. Following Board deliberation, the superintendent will make her final recommendation on which proposal will move forward for approval and adoption at public hearings in February and March.
