School Choice

The Office of School Choice empowers parents and guardians to select an educational setting that best aligns with their child's needs, interests, and aspirations. By offering access to diverse programs such as magnet schools, innovative courses, and specialized academies, the program supports the District's mission to educate all students to reach their highest potential

Highlights

40 Magnet Schools of America Merit Awards (2026), including one Top Magnet School of Excellence at Atlantic Technical College & High School.
Diverse Program Themes: Magnet offerings span STEAM, Health & Wellness, Pre-Law, Marine Science, Biotechnology, World Languages, Aviation Technology, and more.
Grant Funding & Innovation: Over $14 million in federal MSAP grants drive new and redesigned programs through the Achieving Career Equity for Students (ACES) initiative. Several schools have also received $50,000 STEM Classroom Makeover Grants, creating state-of-the-art labs and learning spaces.
Academic Excellence: BCPS students continue to outperform state averages on statewide assessments, maintaining an “A” district rating for two consecutive years.
Model Magnet Schools: BCPS features national demonstration and certification schools, including Atlantic Technical High School as a model of innovation and South Broward High School for preparing students with industry-recognized credentials.
