Student Transportation & Fleet Services

There are just over 1,000 school buses used by Broward District Schools on daily routes, transporting more than 50,000 students to and from school, and driving more than 16 million miles to 234 locations.  This department collaborates with all schools to communicate transportation information to students and parents.

Broward School Board Policy 6600 formerly 5300 allows for a student otherwise eligible for transportation, to ride if there is a seat available on route(s) that serves the school. After the first fifteen (15) calendar days of each school year students not otherwise eligible for school bus transportation may apply for school bus transportation when empty seats are available on an existing route (“Empty Seat Program”). Parents of students who have been assigned” empty seats” are responsible for their child’s arrival at the assigned bus stop.
