Important Notice – Change in School Impact Fee Payment Process (Effective November 2025)

Beginning November 2025, developers will pay the School Impact Fee portion directly to the School Board of Broward County (SBBC) through our online payment portal instead of Broward County’s Development & Environmental Review (DER).

Under the new process, developers will continue to receive invoices from DER; however, the School Impact Fee portion must now be paid directly to the School Board (SBBC) through our secure online payment portal. DER will still collect and process its own fees separately.

What remains the same:

  • DER continues to issue the overall development invoice and final project approvals.

  • The County remains responsible for its own fees and certifications.

What changes:

  • The School Impact Fee portion is no longer paid to the County.

  • Payments to SBBC are made electronically only—no cash or checks accepted.

  • The Treasury Department now issues the official payment receipt directly to the developer and DER upon successful payment.

For detailed instructions, accepted payment methods, and refund policies, please review the SBBC Treasurer's Office FAQs below.
