Ethics Training for Advisory Board Members

Committee Training

In accordance with School Board Policy 1070 – District Committees and Their Membership, all appointed members of District advisory committees, councils, and task forces are required to complete ethics training session.

  • First-time participants and those retaking the full training should plan for approximately 45 minutes.

  • Members who have previously completed the orientation and training may instead take a brief assessment. If passed successfully, the assessment will satisfy the training requirement under Policy 1070.

Important Update:
Policy 1070 – District Committees and Their Membership replaced Policy 1.7 – School Board-Established Advisory Committees and Appointment of a School Board Member Representative(s) to Such Committee(s).

STEPS TO FOLLOW

2.  Complete the Acknowledgement Form and save the auto-receipt email for your records

3. Fill out the Conflict of Interest Waiver and email a copy to bcps_legislativeaffairs@browardschools.com

 

Form 8B – Memorandum of Voting Conflict for County, Municipal, and Other Local Public Officers

Members of District advisory committees should complete Form 8B when they have a voting conflict of interest on a matter coming before the committee, as provided under Section 112.3143, Florida Statutes.

In general, this form is used when a member must disclose a conflict before participating in a vote on a matter that may result in a special private gain or loss to the member, or to certain relatives, associates, or business interests.

Appointed members serving on advisory bodies are expected to disclose the conflict before participating in the vote and submit the completed form in accordance with applicable requirements.
