My name is Debbie Kowalski and I have lived in Broward county since 1979. I’ve been teaching with Broward County schools for 28 years. I earned a Bachelors’ degree in Elementary Education and a Masters’ degree in Library Science. I was a classroom teacher for many years in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. My love of reading brought me to the library.

I teach students to become independent users of the library so they will become lifelong readers. Our library has a complete cart of computers, unique reading areas, a Lego wall, and many STEAM activities for students. I am currently working on getting more student friendly furniture.

Curriculum focus includes the online resources in Single Sign On to help with research. (We use the FINDS model for research.) In literature we learn genres, authors & illustrators and where to find them. Each year we participate in Reading Across Broward and the Sunshine State Young Reader Awards programs.
