• On November 7th, DECA students were invited to participate in a skill and team building symposium at Broward College.  The symposium was run by Collegiate DECA  and had over a 120 students competing for the title of Young Business Leader for the future.  Student Eddy Valdivia was named the top student of the symposium and won the prestigious award.  PNC bank presented Eddy with a brand new touchscreen HP laptop.  Way to go Eddy!




    Club Objective

    DECA is an association of marketing students that will teach the students leadership training and reinforce specific career and technical skills. Students gain experience in the field of marketing, business & entrepreneurship.

    Congratulations to Erick Magloire for placing 3rd in the State of Florida in DECA competition this weekend. Erick is the first student at SBHS to ever do this. Erick attended a DECA conference this past weekend and competed with 1800 students from the state. This May he will advance to National DECA competition in Atlanta, GA and compete against 16,000 other students from across the country. Congratulations on an excellent job Erick. We are so proud of you!

    2014 Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association Scholarship Recipients: Cambria Knight, Erick Maglorie, Diana Alvarez, and Marvah Benjamin.

    The 2014 graduating seniors from South Broward High School Academy of Hospitality/Lodging received honor chords and sashes at their senior awards night.   The seniors are receiving over $500,000 in scholarships from colleges such as FIU, FMU, Pace University, UCF, UNF, University of Washington, BC and Johnson and Wales.  All 27 are attending college or a technical school after graduation.  Congratulations to all the graduates.

    Congratulations to DECA for securing a grant from Mariott for competing in a Virtual Business Challenge.  Only 34 schools in the country received this grant.  Way to go Ms. Edgcomb and students!!!!!!!
