The Minority Scholars Calculus Program is an initiative designed to increase the number of minority students who enroll and successfully complete AP Calculus in high school. The program begins with enrolling selected 7th grade students in Algebra 1. Students who successfully complete Algebra 1 will be enrolled in Geometry in the 8th grade. Students are selected based on their test scores, grades and teacher recommendation. Completing AP Calculus in high school can open the gate for students to enter the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T. E.M.) or other lucrative careers.
