    Here at Floranada we take pride in our “Fabulous Clubs”.

     

    Student Council- Our goal is to help our school and community become a better place. We acknowledge the concerns of the students and collectively come up with solutions. The members of this club include 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. These students are expected to be a role model for other students and shows respect for everyone. Members are responsible for delivering important council information and reminders to their classes.  For more information, please contact shadrica.mccray@browardschools.com.

    Green Team- The green team is an environmental team that recycles paper, bottles, and cans for our school. We consider ourselves the “Respect the Environment Team” which is part of our school’s motto. Members are 4th grade students, recommended by their teachers for demonstrating great behavior and academic success. For more information, please contact patricia.rowe@browardschools.com.

    Safety Patrol- Here at Floranada, Safety is our top priority. This club allows students the opportunity to help monitor “SAFETY” all around our school. This club consist of 4th and 5th grade students whom are recommended by their teachers for demonstrating all characteristics of a role model.     Robotics- The Robotics club surrounds itself with 4th and 5th grade students who truly understands the act of working cooperatively together to achieve goals. It is designed to engage and inspire students with building different types of robots. Within the club, students form groups such as builders, recorders, coders, and researchers.     Debate- Members of this club are 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. This club consist of dedicated students who choose to voice topics of concerns. Students focus on building critical thinking skills to support their arguments. This club allows students the opportunity to work on their public speaking and writing skills.     Garden Club-The focus of the Garden Club is to prepare for the Standard Youth Flower Show typically held in March that is sponsored by the Fort Lauderdale Garden Club. Students create posters, journals, grow plants, create flower arrangements and create whimsical designs out of fruit and vegetables.  All these entries are judged in the Show by judges and receive ribbons.  Many of the participants win "camperships" to the Wekiva Environmental Youth Camp located in Wekiva Springs State Park. The club also maintains a butterfly/vegetable garden. 

    The Garden Club is a mix of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Students need to fill out an application and write about why they would like to join.  For more information, please contact beatrice.bofill@browardschools.com.

    Lego Club-Blockheads is a Lego Club that invites students in grades 3-5, to Connect, Collaborate, and Create!  Students are presented with challenging problems that ask them to design and engineer a solution using Lego blocks.  These are hands-on, cross-curricular activities that boost 21st-century skills in a fun and creative way!  For more information, please contact Mary.Flower@browardschools.com.

    Recorder Club- The Recorder Club is a performance-based group made up of thirty 3rd-5th grade students. These students meet once a week on Tuesday’s from 2:15-3:30 PM. During rehearsal, students are taught the fundamentals of playing the recorder, as well as developing embouchure skills and sight-reading abilities. The Recorder Club performs at our yearly Holiday Concert, as well as the Spring Concert. Ability to read staff and identify rhythms is a requirement for joining Recorder Club.

    After School Chorus- The After-School Chorus is a performance-based group made up of thirty 3rd-5th grade students. These students meet once a week on Wednesday’s from 2:15-3:30 PM. During rehearsal, students are taught the foundations of proper vocal technique, as well as experiencing and learning musical selections from all different genres and cultures. Music theory is also heavily incorporated with this ensemble. After School Chorus performs at our yearly Holiday Concert, as well as the Spring Concert. Ability to read sheet music, identify rhythms and match pitch are all requirements for joining After School Chorus. For more information, please contact jared.doyle@browardschools.com.

    World Music Ensemble- World Music Ensemble is a performance-based group made up of thirty 2nd-5th grade students. These students meet once a week on Monday’s from 2:15-3:30 PM. During rehearsal, students are taught the fundamentals of rhythm identification, communication and listening, and improvisation of rhythmic patterns on various world music instruments. World Music Ensemble performs at our yearly Holiday Concert, as well as our Spring Concert. Ability to identify rhythmic notation as well as mimic complex rhythms is a requirement for joining World Music Ensemble.  For more information, please contact jared.doyle@browardschools.com.

    Musical- Once a year, the Floranada Music Program prepares a highly professional and elaborate musical. This year, Disney’s Mulan Jr. was selected, and students in grades 3rd-5th were allowed to audition. 30 students were selected to fill various roles including lead parts and well as the chorus section. The musical is not only educational, but allows students to build character, help build school and community spirit, and of course have fun in the process! Rehearsals for the musical take place three times a week: on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and Friday afternoons. The premiere of Disney’s Mulan Jr. will take place at Rickards Middle School on Thursday, April 19th at 6:30 PM.  For more information, please contact jared.doyle@browardschools.com.

    Ukulele Club- The Ukulele club includes 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The club will meet on Mondays or Thursdays. Each student will be getting a ukulele to take home and practice. Thanks to Kala Ukulele's for donating 40 ukuleles to our school to make this possible!

    Stay tuned for some performances once everyone learns to play!

    Advanced Arts Club is open to students in grades 3-5 and provides additional art lessons, guided support and creative time to students who have a great interest in the arts.  Larger projects and new mediums are introduced to challenge budding young artists.  The culminating event for the Advanced Art Clubs our school's Cultural Night, where we celebrate our student’s talents.  For more information, please contact Mary.Flower@browardschools.com

    Chess Club- This club is open to all grades K-5. The chess club allow students to think and compete. The great thing about this club is that you do not need to know how to play.
