    As we finish the first 9 weeks of the 2019/2020 school year, I want to thank our Bobcat students for embracing our culture of integrity, dignity, and respect. Your dedication to each other and community is recognized. Thank you, Parents and Staff, for continuing to promote academic success in your child and monitor their social emotional well being as students. It is our goal to value each and every student every day.

    Last week’s events were powerful and student-driven.
    - It was great observing our Senior Class of 2020 students during their Senior Guidance checks and BRACE visits!!! Hundreds of students began the Bright Future application process. Awesome class!!
    - Our EKG students took multiple the blood pressure of our staff members as part of their hands-on learning experience. I have to say, my blood pressure looked good! Thank you Mrs. Osman-Arno for your leadership.
    - Congrats to our Bobcat Senior Swimmers as they had a very successful season, your hard work and dedication are noted!!
    - Saturday, our Bobcat Performance Ensemble Marching Band placed first at the John I. Leonard Invitational. Our Bobcats, lead by Mr. Calmer, are looking impressive as they work hard everyday!!
    - Great job Bobcat Speech and Debate students on hosting this past weekend’s Debate Tournament!! Excellent leadership from Mrs. Harrison and Mr. Fleischer!!!
    - So proud of our Spanish National Honor Society for hosting numerous community members on campus to provide inspirational messages to our student body as part of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Thank you to Mrs. Torraca for your leadership.
    - Thank you to Sgt. Olivia, Josha Calarino and former 2012 alumni, Taylor Blanco, from the United Way for giving our Bobcats the FACTS about vaping and e-cigarettes.
    - Thank you, Mrs. Hurtado and Peer Counseling students, for leading West Broward’s “Just Say Hello” campaign. Students and staff are challenged and encouraged to say "Hello" to a new person on campus each day.
    *With these types of initiatives in place, imagine the positive messages that we, as Bobcats, can spread on campus and throughout the community.

    Events for this week and beyond include:
    - Tuesday Girls Volleyball hosted the District Championship and won in the 5th Game! They went on to compete in the district championship on Wednesday and placed 2nd for the District. They will now go on to play in the Regional Quarter Finals on 10/23. We are so proud our Girls Volleyball Team!!
    - Thursday evening we hosted a District-wide National Honor Society Meeting. and want to thank our student leaders and Mrs. Zorn-Milmed for your leadership and being such great hosts.
    - Friday night is Senior Night for our varsity football team, performance ensemble, and cheerleaders. It is also a wear pink game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. This will be our last home game and will start at 7 PM at Flanagan High School. Good luck Bobcats!!

    - West Broward High and Educational Pursuit are planning our FL College Tour. Registration has opened and the requirements are: Juniors only, with a 3.0 UNWTD GPA (seats are limited). If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Hartzell, BRACE Advisor at tina.hartzell@browardschools.com.

    - West Broward High and Educational Pursuit offers ACT/SAT Diagnostic Test Thursday, October 17th @ 1-4PM in Media Center. Sign up through Educational Pursuit.

    The PSAT was successfully administered to over 1600 students on 10/16 to all 9th, 10th, and registered 11th Graders. A sincered and proud "Thank you" to Mrs. Lozano, the School Counseling Team, and all staff who assisted in this school-wide event!

    Please remember, we are active participants in the school's safety plan. Admin and Campus Security are appreciative to our students and staff who "See Something, Say Something"! We are proud of our Bobcats and enjoy every day we have together to walk towards Graduation! For this reason, we ask that students please make value-based decisions; do not bring unauthorized substances to school, do not partake in behaviors that are in violation of the BCPS Discipline Matrix, and please dress in accordance with the dress code every day.

  • Week of 10/08/19

    Good morning Bobcats!!  Happy Tuesday.  This week’s Principal's message starts with a HUGE Thank You to Bobcat staff, students, parent volunteers, dignitaries, and community members for such an amazing Homecoming Week. 

    Ms. Yard, along with her Student Government Officers and members worked long hours during the last couple weeks to make Homecoming 2019 a big success.  Each day staff and students dressed with Bobcat Pride and Spirit.  Veterinarian Studies, Early Childhood, HOSA, Art, and all Class Officers decorated numerous hallways throughout campus.  A large number of West Broward students participated.  Our Homecoming Week ended with a school-wide Pep Rally, a victory by our Bobcat Varsity Football Team, and an amazing fun-filled, beautifully decorated Homecoming Dance on Saturday.  Great job student leaders and Ms. Yard!

    Congratulations goes out to the following Homecoming Court recipients:
    - Mr. and Miss West Broward 2019: Pablo Soto and Fiama Ferreyra.
    - Mr. and Miss Bobcat 2019: Hector Collazo and Daniella Lopez
    - Mr. and Miss Bobcat Blue 2019: Santiago Bravo and Haley Suarez
    - Mr. and Miss Silver 2019: Daniel Avalos and Amaris Barrios

    Also, the food provided at Homecoming was student-produced through our Bobcat Culinary program.  What an amazing opportunity for an innovative program to showcase their talents and certification skills.  Great leadership by Mrs. Carrington!

    There were numerous accomplishments this past week. 
    - The Office of BCPS Governmental Affairs picked up more than 50 backpacks with school supplies sponsored by National Honor Society and Student Government!! All supplies are going to the Broward Schools Welcome Center for new students coming from the Bahamas! BCPS Governmental Affairs Thanks WeBro!
    - Very proud of our Girl's Volleyball Seniors for being recognized this week.  Great job Emily Arroyo, Jayla Clay, Milan McIntosh, Angelica Mc Shan, Rebecca Pena, and Samantha Strauss!! 
    - Thank you to School Board Member Mrs. Good, Pembroke Pines Mayor Ortis, and Pembroke Pines Commissioner Siple for attending West Broward’s Homecoming game!!
    - On Friday, EMR students went on a filed trip to Cleveland Clinic to participate in DITLOAN (Day In The Life Of A Nurse) with Mrs. Osman-Arno.  They were paired up with a preceptor and went to different areas of the hospital to experience the daily responsibilities of the nursing staff. After a few hours with their preceptors, everyone met back to enjoy lunch and listen to different speakers from the hospital. 
    - On Saturday, our Bobcat JROTC Battalion’s Raider teams won first place at their first Raider Meet hosted at West Broward. Excellent leadership by 1st Sergeant Sosa and Lieutenant Colonel Merkel!! Great job, Bobcats!!
    - On Saturday our Boy's and Girl's Swimmers competed at the BCAA Swimming County Championship.  Great job swimmers on an amazing showing and for your hard work. 
    - Also on Saturday, our Bobcat Speech and Debate Team competed at Nova High School.  Alex Steel placed 1st and Parker Harrison placed 4th in Humorous Interpretation.  Emma Kopp and Jennifer Cuenca placed 4th in Duo.  Great job Bobcat Speech and Debate placers and performers!! 
    - I want to thank all of our parent volunteers that assist all these programs and more.  Without our parents contributing hundreds of hours supporting their individual Bobcats and programs we would not be as successful as we are.  Thank you again for your attention to detail and providing the parental guidance we all need to succeed!! 

    This week’s events include:
    - HOSA Blood Drive Monday and Tuesday. 
    - Thursday is JV Football vs South Broward at Home starting at 4 PM. 
    - Swimming is also on Thursday vs Flanagan at the YMCA pool. 
    - Varsity Football will play against Douglas at Douglas High School starting at 7 PM. 

    Don’t forget Wednesday is no school.  There will be no activities or sporting events from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.

  • Week of 09/30/19

    Good evening, Bobcats.  It is officially “Homecoming Week”!!!  As Bobcats we are very excited for this upcoming week and we look forward to a great week of academics and school spirit. I would like to start this week by highlighting upcoming events. 

    SGA Homecoming Week begins on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.  The theme is “Asian Nights”. School-day themes are as follows:
    - Tuesday: “Color Wars"
    - Wednesday: “Fortune Friends”
    - Thursday: “Travel to The Past”
    - Friday: “Bobcat Dynasty”!!
    Please participate appropriately and dress according to the Student Dress Code; no masks, face or body paint, and no props.
    - Friday night: Homecoming Football Game will played against Piper High at Pines Charter High School Field starting at 7 PM.
    - Saturday: Homecoming Dance, from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM in the cafe. 

    West Broward will be having a FAFSA Night for all senior parents/guardians on October 1st at 5:30 PM in the Media Center. Please join us for free information for completing FAFSA. For more information you may contact the BRACE Department through the School Counseling Office at 754-323-2630.

    Bobcat Speech and Debate has been chosen by the School Board  to host four Elementary School Debate Tournaments.  The first District Tournament will be held this Tuesday after school.  What an honor!!

    BobcatJROTC Raiders will host their first County Raiders meet of the year at WBH on Saturday!  Good luck, Bobcat Battalion, on defending your State Championship!! 

    Sporting events this week include:
    - Cross Country on Tuesday at Quiet Waters Park starting at 4:30 PM. 
    - Swimming on Wednesday at Cooper City starting at 4:30 PM
    - Girls Volleyball vs Coral Springs Charter HOME at 4:30 PM
    -  JV Football at Western at 6:30 PM on Thursday
    - Golf vs Pompano at Weston Hills at 3:30 PM on Thursday
    - Girls Volleyball at Douglas at 4:30 PM on Thursday
    - BCAA Swimming Championship all day Saturday

    Some accomplishments from the past few weeks are listed below. I am very proud of each and every West Broward Student.  The accomplishments and involvement are testaments to their Bobcat Pride!!

    - National Honor Society and Science Honor Society participated in the International Coastal Cleanup. Although this beach cleanup occurred as an event all over the world, our Bobcats worked the location at the State Park in Dania Beach. Great job, Bobcats!! 
    - The 10th Annual Choose Peace/Stop Violence Week was celebrated September 20-27, 2019. Peace Across Broward Day was on Friday, September 20th. Bobcats wore GREEN to increase awareness about climate change, to preserve all human life, and all living organisms on Earth. Great job to our Peer Counseling Club for their Peace Day Activities!!
    - Debate Novice had another championship weekend!! Great job Bobcat Speech and Debate. Thank you to Mrs. Harrison, Mr. Fleischer, and Varsity Debaters for your leadership in guiding our young debate students. 
    - Our Varsity football team played hard against Flanagan last night during the Mayor’s Cup.
    - Our monthly SAC meeting occurred on Monday, September 23rd, at 5:30 PM in the media center. The Mathematics Department presented their information for the school year. In addition, there was a SAF meeting held immediately after.  We encourage all of our parents to attend these meetings on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30PM in the Media Center.

    West Broward Concert Choir will be the only Broward School to perform at Carnegie Hall on April 17, 2020 in NYC. What an honor! Great job students. Amazing leadership from Mr Diaz!!!

    Good afternoon Bobcat Community.  This is Mr. Fatout with my weekly Principal's message. I wanted to start by sharing the many events we have planned this week.  I would then like to share how proud I am of the staff, students, and community.  The dedication you put into community events on and off campus is noted and honorable.  Great job!!

    School Counseling Notes:  Friendly reminder that the Spring Dual Enrollment at Broward College deadline is October 2nd. Students may visit their school counselor and/or www.Broward.edu/dual.

    Don’t forget to continue to visit our College and Career Center in room 250.  Your BRACE Advisers are excited to meet with you.

    Girls results: 1st out of 8 teams; Boys results: 2nd out of 8 teams. Great job Bobcats!!!

    Our Bobcat BRACE Department held our annual SAT Family Night with a representative from College Board on Wednesday, September 11th.  Over 100 families gained great insight into SAT and ACT for college readiness.  If you missed the family night please contact our BRACE Department. 

    Monday, September 16th was the Senior Parent Night Meeting, hosted by School Counseling Staff, BRACE, Senior Advisors, and Admin.  Ms. Mola would like to sincerely thank all the parents and students who attended that meeting, the turnout was impressive!     Congratulations to Bobcat Novice Speech and Debate!! We had 35 novice students attend their first tournament on Wednesday and 19 of them placed! As always, thank you for your support. Go Bobcats!! 

    Baby Bobcat Early Childhood Parent open house. Amazing job students and staff!!! Such amazing families. 

    Harvest Drive at West Broward has officially begun!! Great job DECA and great job Bobcats!!! Stay tuned for ways you can contribute to Harvest Drive. 

    National Honor Society have continued leading our Bobcat clubs and organizations in support of Broward Schools dedication towards Bahamas Hurricane Relief initiative. 

    HOSA packed back packs filled with non perishable goods as part of West Broward’s Bahamas Hurricane Relief!! What great kids!! Thank you to Mrs. Bruce for your leadership!! 

    Peer Counseling put on their first lunch-time activity at West Broward!! Great job students!! Thank you to Mrs. Cunicelli-Carlton for your leadership. Go Bobcats!!!

    West Broward Performance Ensemble enjoyed Friday night’s Varsity Bobcat football game performing with Silver Trail Middle School Band in the stands. Amazing West Broward Zone!!!! 

    Great job Junior Varsity Football on your first game!! It was a lot of fun watching you play.   

    Saturday, the Broward PTA/PTSA BLT event was held at Apollo Middle School. Great representation from West Broward PTSA. Thank you Superintendent Runcie, Mrs. Good, Mrs. Aleman, and Mrs. Aycock for your leadership!! 

    Saturday, Best Buddies hosted a District event on campus.  100 student leaders met to discuss inclusion activities county-wide.  An amazing group of student leaders represented West Broward!! Inclusion at its best. 

    With Student Picture Days being 9/18 & 9/19 this week, every student and staff member will have a WBH Picture ID in their possession.  Please remind your student that SBBC Policy states that all students and staff must have their School ID on their person at all times on campus.  WBH will encourage this policy being followed by continuing our required ID check upon entry to campus through out Single Point Entry, as well as required for any student to exit their classroom or entry into the Media Center.  This is a new protocol that will be followed with fidelity.  Campus Security will be checking for students to have their ID visible when they are in the hallways.

    WBH would like to remind parents and guardians to review the Student Code of Conduct handbook and the revisions made to infractions and disciplinary consequences in the areas specifically related to tobacco/nicotine, marijuana, and THC.  Both the infractions and the consequences have been revised, some of which are very important to know and understand.  All grade level administrators have held their class meetings and informed the students of the non-negotiable consequences to being in possession, use, or under the influence of these products and/or paraphernalia.

  • Week of 09/11/19

    Hello Bobcats! This is Mr. Fatout with my weekly principal update.  I wanted to first thank all families for your continued support and understanding as we prepared and returned to school during and after Hurricane Dorian.  Students returned to school excited and ready to learn. As we head into this week, I wanted to first share some important reminders for the week. 

    Bobcat student and teacher leaders are holding a Bahamas Relief Effort, with National Honor Society taking the lead on this project. Please bring items to the front office or parent loop. Thank you for your support, Bobcats. 

    West Broward High is excited to host its annual SAT Family Night with a representative from College Board. Come out on Wednesday, September 11th, at 6PM in our Theater to learn how students can best prep for this exam and earn scholarship dollars.

    Reminder! School pictures are scheduled for Sept. 18th & 19th.  Students and Staff will receive their new identification badge at that time.  Please know that WBH will be following District Policy and require all students and staff to wear their School ID badge, having it physically present at all times on campus. Thank you for your support and understanding of this protocol.

    Parents, please join PTSA on Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 8:30AM to 12:30PM at Plantation High School for this worthwhile event.

    - Class Assemblies were held by administration and staff.  New discipline policies, school culture, and overall academic career pathway plans were discussed.     - I would like to thank staff, student leaders, parents, and community members for a great Open House!
    - Over 100 students attended the first Best Buddies and Key Club Meetings last week. It was an amazing opportunity to witness student leaders in action!! Go Bobcats!! 
    - JV and Varsity Girls Volleyball teams continued their great seasons over the past few weeks.  Great job, Bobcats!!! 
    - Varsity Football has worked extremely hard each and every game this season.  We wish them the best on the upcoming football games. 
    - Bobcat swimming had excellent showings the past few weeks taking on Flanagan, Hollywood Hills, St Thomas, and South Broward high schools. 
    - And thank you to the Bobcat students who assisted administration and staff at Silver Trail Middle School's Open House!!
