• My name is Brenna Doering and I am Deerfield Beach Elementary School's new school counselor. I am so excited to be a part of your school community! As the school counselor, I am here to provide your child with academic, social/emotional, and career development through individual counseling, small group counseling, and classroom counseling lessons. I know that we are "Charting new waters at DBES" with e-learning. It has been very hard for everyone to get used to and I want to let you know - that's okay! It really is hard and you are not alone. To help with this transition, I created my own canvas course for students and families to use as a resource for Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) and Mindfulness. You will find tons of videos, games, and information that can help you and your child get through this weird time. Students have already been added to the course and should be able to see it on their dashboard.
Also, I want to hear from you! If you think your child would benefit from a check in with me, please feel free to fill out the Parent Check-In Request Form. You can also let your child know that if they want to self-request a check-in with me, they can fill the Student Check-In Request Form. Just as a reminder, confidentiality is a huge part of what I do as the School Counselor, so to the best of your ability, I ask that your student has privacy when we talk or chat on video. Rest assured, these check-ins are just that - me checking in to say hello and remind the students that I am here and thinking about them, or to address a concern you've brought to my attention.
I look forward to getting to know all of you. Have a great school year!
    Ms. Doering
P.S. I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French! 🙂
