Coronavirus Information Update
Broward County Public Schools to Close School Campuses on Monday, April 6
Broward County Public Schools successfully carried out distance learning this week, with approximately 15,000 teachers and 220,000 students from District managed schools participating in remote online learning. This was supported by the distribution of 82,000 laptop computers to students who needed them and several days of engagement with Canvas the learning management system.
The District is now positioned to close its school campuses effective Monday, April 6, except for food distribution sites.
Administrators, guidance counselors, social workers and mental health professionals, micro-techs, and other staff will continue to support teachers and students remotely from home, which will limit the number of people who are required to be in schools. Staff may be asked to report to work if essential or needed. If an individual is required to visit a school campus for any reason, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines will be followed.
Parents with questions can still call their child’s school weekdays, between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
We thank our amazing employees who worked hard to get the District to this point.
Please note information is always changing and we will provide the latest updates as soon as possible.
