Early dismissal should be avoided. Per School Board Policy, no child will be released between 1:40 p.m. and 2:10 p.m. We ask that parents make doctor and dentist appointments after school hours when possible. Otherwise, your children will miss activities that cannot be made up the next day.
Students will be released only to those persons designated on the registration/emergency contact card. Due to security reasons we cannot grant telephone request for students to leave early. All students must be signed out through the school office. These procedures are designed to protect our students. Your help in maintaining a safe environment for our students is greatly appreciated. Please know your child’s grade, teacher’s name, and have your photo identification available when you arrive to remove your child from school during the school day.
Hollywood Park Elementary School is a home away from home. As is the case in all homes, there are behaviors that are deemed unacceptable. All students are expected to be courteous to each other and to all adults. They will not be permitted to disrupt the instructional program or interfere with others. Any type of fighting, harassing, threatening others, verbal abuse (arguing with or talking back to staff) or profane language/gestures is unacceptable.
In order to have a learning atmosphere for all children, rules for proper behavior must prevail. Please discuss and review expected behavior and consequences as listed in the Code of Student Conduct Handbook. It is imperative that you read and sign pages 7, 8, and 9 and return immediately to the classroom teacher. The Discipline Matrix is also included in the Handbook and will be applied to student referrals.
Additionally, each teacher will have a classroom discipline plan. This plan will be sent home with your child during the first week of school and discussed at Open House.

Benefits of a Uniform Policy
Research suggests that school uniforms
- Improve discipline, self-esteem, and self-respect.
- Focus the student towards learning.
- Eliminate the fear of whether their clothing choice will be acceptable to peers.
- Strengthens school pride.
- Help to identify student population from strangers on school grounds.
- Are cost effective.
All children should start wearing their school uniform on the very first day of school this August. Please call us at school if you have any questions or concerns.
A parent or guardian may request by mail, or in person, an application for an exemption from the uniform program. Exemption waivers must be completed by the 10th day of the students' enrollment.
Parents and Visitors
Planning a Visit?
All visitors, including parents with an appointment, must check into the front office prior to going to any classrooms or other area on campus. Please bring with you an official photo ID, such as your driver's license, Florida's official state identification card, or a passport.
Pick Up and Drop Off
Car Pick-Up & Drop-Off
In order to avoid difficulty in dropping off and picking up children we are asking for your help, assistance, and cooperation. Our common goal is to ensure your child’s safety. By following the guidelines and procedures listed below, you will be helping us tremendously in achieving this goal.
FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF, CELL PHONES ARE NOT TO BE USED IN THE CAR LINE.
- Only allow your children to exit and enter your vehicle on the curbside. Please do this as quickly as possible so that we can keep the flow of traffic moving.
- Never leave your vehicle while in the car pick-up area. If you need to park, please pull into a parking space.
- Never ask your children to walk in front of vehicles while in the car pick-up area.
- For your child’s safety and to maintain the flow of traffic, car pick-up signs with your child’s name and teacher should be displayed on the front dash.
School and day care busses will be the ONLY vehicles allowed in the front of the school from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m. Please do not enter the bus area during that time.
REMEMBER: Due to end-of-day activities and procedures, early student sign-out must be prior to 1:40 p.m. except for an extreme emergency with administrative approval.
Hollywood Park Elementary School is part of the Broward Truancy Intervention Program. Any child not in their room by 8:10 a.m. must be marked tardy. Late arrivals must check in the front office before going to class. Promptness is a habit that both home and school must encourage. EVERY EFFORT SHOULD BE MADE TO HAVE YOUR CHILD IN THEIR CLASSROOM ON TIME.
Please reinforce this responsibility with your child! Occasionally, there might be an excuse. A NOTE TO THE SCHOOL IS REQUIRED ON THIS OCCASION. Student tardies will be tracked and referred to district personnel when deemed habitual.
