HBE School Counseling Program: Touching Hearts, Inspiring Minds
Desiree Tanke
I'd like to introduce myself as your child's Certified School Counselor. This is my 33rd
year as a school counselor, with the last 22 years spent as a proud member of the Hawkes
Bluff Family. My passion is teaching compassion and kindness through modeling and action.
Along with academic success, my goal is to equip students with skills that will help them
build and maintain relationships, request adult assistance when needed, resolve conflicts,
develop problem-solving skills, and demonstrate tolerance of others. I like to partner with
parents, colleagues and the community to assist students with the skills needed to become
responsible and contributing citizens who are career and college ready.
Our Comprehensive Guidance Program provides Personal/Social, Academic and Career
Counseling through the following:
*Developmental classroom guidance activities
*Guidance groups to build academic skills and provide social/emotional support
*Individual conferences with students or small groups
*Consultation and collaboration with school staff, parents and guardians, District support
services, mental health professionals and community agencies.
My services can be accessed through teacher, administrative, parent or guardian, or selfreferral.
I am looking forward to a fantastic and productive 2020-21 school year at Hawkes
Bluff "Where education is timeless and we are learning for a lifetime".

Parents, partners and community members. In keeping up with our Hawkes Bluff philosophy of teaching and modeling kindness and compassion,
we are starting an initiative of recognizing students and staff members who show the character trait of kindness and compassion.
If you would like to recognize a staff member for demonstrating these traits, or committing a kind or compassionate act, you may fill out
one of these forms and turn it into the front office. We will recognize the person you nominated on the morning announcements.
Copies of the forms are also available in the Media Center or front office.
Thanking you for your own kindness and compassion.
