  • Welcome and thank you for your interest in Margate Middle sports.

    General Information

Margate Middle School offers the following sports during the school year: soccer, basketball, volleyball, flag football, track and field, and cheerleading. Sports teams are open to all grade levels. After several weeks of practice, student athletes will compete in a regular season with the hopes of making it into their post-season. Our athletic director is Ms. Patricia Wilson.

    Requirements

All students must maintain an Unweighted GPA of 2.0 or higher. No failing grades or unsatisfactory conduct in any subject will be allowed.
A student athlete cannot turn 15 before August 31, 2018.
A student athlete must also have a notarized Parental Permission form completed with a front copy of valid insurance card.
If you have no insurance, school insurance can be purchased through School Insurance of Florida (the forms are in the front office). The insurance policies start at $9.00.

    Team Member Information

Tryouts are held 3 weeks prior to the start of each sport. Announcements will be made prior to tryouts, students need to listen to the announcements for information.

Generally, practices are held Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM. Student athletes are expected to be at every practice throughout the season.  Students must be picked up from practice no later than fifteen minutes after practice is scheduled to end or they may forfeit their opportunity to be on the team.

Each sport has two games per week that usually last until approximately 6:30 PM.  Transportation to and from Margate Middle School's away games is provided. Parents need to pick up their student athlete from the school after each game. Game schedules and directions to away schools will be available prior to each season.
