Privacy Matters 

The School Board of Broward County, Florida, is dedicated to protecting the personal information of its students and employees.  This website contains privacy notices, forms, policies, and answers to frequently asked questions.  These documents are designed to help staff members comply with privacy laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and to help parents, students and employees understand their privacy rights.

In certain instances, FERPA and state law disclosing information from education records without written consent from the parent or student (age 18 or over).  However, certain conditions and requirements must be met.  Here are informative documents developed by the Privacy Officer and the Office of the General Counsel to help guide you through the process.
