    BCPS Cognia Survey Results, 2021-22

    This memo and the attached appendix summarize students’, parents’, teachers’, and noninstructional staff participation in the end-of-year Cognia surveys. Four surveys are available: those taken by elementary (grades 3-5) school students, middle-high (grades 6-12) school students, parents, and staff (teachers and non-instructional staff respond to the same staff survey).

    Florida School Grades, 2021-22

    This memorandum summarizes the school grade results released today by the Florida Department of Education at the school, district, and state levels. A school’s grade may include up to eleven components. There are four achievement components, four learning gains components, a middle school acceleration component, as well as components for graduation rate and college and career acceleration. The components consists of student performance on statewide assessments in English Language Arts, mathematics, and science in addition to End-of-Course Examinations in Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, Civics, and US History.

  • Graduation Rates, 2020-21

    On January 6, 2022, the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) released Federal graduation rates for Florida and the 67 Florida school districts. The graduation rate measures the percentage of students who graduate within four years of their first enrollment in ninth grade.

  • Broward Summer Experience 2021

    In order to counteract the deficits on all BCPS students’ learning brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic, BCPS offered the 2021 Summer Experience Program to all traditional BCPS students. The main Summer Experience Program ran for 6 weeks in the summer of 2021, Monday through Thursday, from Monday, June 21st, 2021, through Thursday, July 29th, 2021. Ninety-five schools participated in the 2021 Summer Experience. For students who had been learning from home for the whole of the 2020-21 school year, the 2021 Summer Experience offered students the opportunity to reconnect with their friends and teachers, as the 2021 Summer Experience was conducted in person.

  • Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Results 2018-19 through 2020-21

    This Brief presents enrollment rates and exam results for Broward County Public Schools’ (BCPS) Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) program as of August 10, 2021. The Cambridge AICE Diploma is an international curriculum and examination system that emphasizes the value of broad and balanced study. Alongside in-depth understanding of a variety of subjects, students also need to master a broader range of skills critical for success in university study and employment. AICE exams are scored on a seven-point scale, and many colleges and universities will award course credit for scores of 3 or higher.

    This brief presents enrollment rates and exam results for Broward County Public Schools’ (BCPS) Advanced Placement (AP) program. The AP program provides an opportunity for high school students to experience college-level coursework and demonstrate mastery of content on national, subject-specific examinations. AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5, and many colleges and universities will award course credit for scores of 3 or higher.

  • PSAT

    PSAT School Day Results, 2020-21

    This memo and the attached appendices summarize student participation and scores from two types of Preliminary SAT tests offered during the 2020-21 school year: the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), offered to tenth and eleventh grade students, and the Preliminary SAT 8/9 (PSAT 8/9), offered to ninth grade students. Both PSAT administrations provide feedback to students, educators, and parents on reading, writing, and mathematical skills essential for success in college-level coursework.

  • SAT School Day Results, 2019-20

    The SAT, a college entrance exam offered through College Board, provides many benefits, both to students and schools. For the fourth year in a row, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) partnered with College Board to provide a school day administration of the SAT to all eleventh grade students enrolled in the District’s traditional schools and centers in order to increase SAT participation throughout the District. The SAT was also offered to twelfth grade students who had not yet met the reading graduation testing requirement.

  • Attendance Rates, 2017-18 through 2019-20

    This brief summarizes attendance trends in Broward County Public Schools for the three school year period from 2017-18 to 2019-20. Attendance for the 2019-20 school year through March 13, 2020. Absences are classified as excused (parent/guardian notified the school), unexcused (no parent/guardian notified the school), or suspension (external suspension). Results are presented in figures and tables, and additional materials are included in appendices.

  • Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT®)

    The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT®) has been used as a universal screener to identify gifted students from under-represented populations since 2011. In Broward County Public Schools, this is defined as having limited English Proficiency or qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.
