As the proverb goes, “it takes a village to raise a child.” When Broward
County Public School began discussing plans to expand eLearning at home to
include face-to-face instruction on-campus, this proverb, as it relates to
education, became more relevant.
The idea to include community partners as part of the conversation of reopening
schools was the best way for the School District to afford students and
families an opportunity to maximize the resources available to them. When
approached with the idea to be active participants in this conversation,
community partners did not hesitate and jumped right in.
The commitment and hard work from our community partners was
evident. Together, District staff and its partners created a “Heat
Map’ and an “eCatalog” that provide stakeholders with resources for families,
including eLearning day care service providers, food distribution locations,
behavioral health services, career and job skills, and education enrichment.
We could not be more grateful for the continued support and commitment from
our community partners.
