Update on School Boundary Process for 2023/24 School Year
To ensure the School Boundary process is consistent with School Board Policy 5000, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Interim Superintendent Dr. Earlean C. Smiley is submitting a revision to Item 1: 2023/24 School Attendance Areas/Boundaries and School Usage Recommendations – All High Schools for tonight’s School Board Public Hearing. The revised recommendation is for BCPS to maintain the school boundaries currently in place for ALL District high schools, including Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, for the 2023/24 school year.
The District acknowledges the need to address the overcrowding at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and will continue to review potential solutions while ensuring compliance with School Board Policy and providing our community with every opportunity for meaningful feedback throughout the process, which would be for the 2024/25 school year.
The revision to Item 1 has been posted online and can be accessed at browardschools.com/Page/55263.
The Public Hearing takes place today, Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Coral Springs High School. It begins at 5:30 p.m.
