BCPS Teachers Head Back to School for the “Battle of the Bots”

BCPS teachers prepare for the new school year by putting their robotics skills to the test during a mock “Battle of the Bots” competition.

WHY:
Approximately 70 teachers from at least 31 schools across the District are attending a professional development workshop to learn about new VEX robots their students will use in the 2019/20 school year. The workshop culminates with a mock “Battle of the Bots” competition among teachers.
The training and robots are part of a grant awarded to BCPS from the REC Foundation and NASA, which will provide VEX Robots to all District schools. The 2019/20 school year is the third year of the four-year grant. The new robotic equipment and resources will enhance STEM+Computer Science (STEM+C) opportunities currently offered at 145 schools across the District.
