Five Star School Award

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is proud to announce 29 District schools earned the Five Star School Award for the 2018/19 school year. The award is presented by the Florida Department of Education to schools that are committed to incorporating family and community members into the school environment to enhance student learning.

The Five Star School Award recognizes the importance of community involvement to student success. To qualify for the award, schools must have active business partnerships, family engagement and volunteer services programs, as well as organized School Advisory Councils. Also, schools must have an improvement rating of “maintaining or improving” or a grade of “C” or above for the 2018/19 school year to qualify for this award.

“Parent, family and community involvement – there’s no better partnership to assure a high-quality education for our students,” said BCPS Superintendent Robert W. Runcie. “The positive impact of community support and resources is evidenced by student achievement and school success.
