Broward County School Board Recognized for Excellence in Budget Presentation
The Broward County School Board is being recognized by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) with its Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for fiscal year 2023/24. The award honors excellence in budget presentations while also enhancing and promoting school districts’:
- Skills in developing effective budget presentations
- Compliance with clear budget presentation guidelines
- Commitment to the community through a reader-friendly budget document
- Adherence to nationally recognized budget presentation standards.
As part of the award process, school districts submit their budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with MBA criteria and other requirements and provide expert feedback.
Districts that meet the stringent program requirements earn either the MBA or a Pathway to the MBA (Pathway) award, which is an introductory program that allows districts to ease into full MBA compliance.
“Presenting a budget that is both accessible and accurate is crucial for school districts to clearly communicate and build trust with their communities,” explains Jim Rowan, CAE, SFO, ASBO International Executive Director. “The Meritorious Budget Award program provides districts with the resources and tools to do just that, and the districts that receive the award are recognized for their commitment to upholding nationally recognized budget presentation standards.”
