Sixth Annual High School Bilingual Conference
More than 150 Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) bilingual students are set to gain valuable insights at the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association’s (BCHBA) sixth annual High School Bilingual Conference. The conference – conducted in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole – breaks down the language barrier and offers students the unique opportunity to learn about the legal profession directly from law professionals. The event takes place on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Fort Lauderdale High School (1600 N.E. Fourth Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33305).
The conference fosters a mentorship environment in hopes of introducing students to – and sparking their interest in – the legal profession. This year’s conference addresses the importance of mental health in children, raising awareness of this crucial aspect of their development and education.
Through the panel discussion titled, “Our Bilingual Journey: The Challenges and Benefits of Bilingualism in the Legal Profession,” students will learn about the personal journeys of bilingual law students, practicing attorneys and judges. Participants will also take part in small breakout sessions, focusing on the positive and negative aspects of bilingualism while studying and practicing law, and an interactive mock trial presentation.
The High School Bilingual Conference is made possible thanks to the generous support of BCHBA sponsors: The Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar, CopyScan Technologies, Level Up Lawyers, St. Thomas University College of Law, Bienaime Studio, Crush Interactive Web Design & Digital Marketing, and Prevail Legal.
Media is invited to cover this event. RSVP at bcps.pio@browardschools.com.
