A white badge with blue textAI-generated content may be incorrect.Across Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), notifying first responders about when and where an emergency is taking place will be as easy as pressing a button.

At the start of the 2025/26 school year, BCPS employees at every school and District office will be equipped with a CrisisAlert™ badge. This new emergency alert measure provides an added layer of security as part of the District’s existing Alyssa’s Alert System, which includes the SaferWatch App.

“Broward County Public Schools is the first school district in the state to give employees three ways to quickly notify first responders of an emergency – through their desktops, the mobile app and now a wearable badge,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “When seconds matter, every employee is equipped to get crucial information in the hands of those who can help.”

The CrisisAlert™ badge is an easily accessible and easy-to-use way to call for help in an emergency. CrisisAlert™ strobes have been installed across all BCPS school campuses and offices, providing comprehensive coverage that includes parking lots and athletic fields. Teachers, administrators and staff can use their wearable badges to alert to various emergencies, ranging from medical incidents and student altercations to initiating a campuswide lockdown due to a school threat.

A demonstration of the new wearable CrisisAlert™ badge will take place at 8 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at Plantation Middle School, 6600 W. Sunrise Blvd., Plantation, FL 33313.

Media are invited to cover this event.
