The safety and security of our students, staff and schools remain the highest priority for Broward County Public Schools (BCPS). The Division of Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the anonymous tip reporting resource FortifyFL and the responsibilities of each school based on Florida Statute.

Section 943.082 (4b) of Florida Statutes states:
“The district school board shall promote the use of the mobile suspicious activity reporting tool (FortifyFL) by advertising it on the school district website, in newsletters, on school campuses, and in school publications, by installing it on all mobile devices issued to students, and by bookmarking the website on all computer devices issued to students.”

The FortifyFL app, from the State of Florida, allows individuals to instantly report suspicious activity to appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials. By accessing FortifyFL, anyone can provide a description of a potential threat, share pictures and videos. Submitting a tip is quick and easy using the mobile app or website. FortifyFL is a free mobile phone application that is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Please remember the purpose of this tool is to report unsafe, potentially harmful, dangerous, violent, criminal activity, or the threat of these activities, to the appropriate authorities. Submissions go directly to school administrative staff, District officials, as well as local law enforcement agencies and will be investigated appropriately.

When submitting a tip, please remember to include as much detail as possible, such as social media handles, images, dates, times, or other relevant information that will assist investigators.

Note that this method of reporting is NOT a replacement for calling 9-1-1, when there is a crime in progress or an emergency.

BCPS encourages everyone to be vigilant in reporting all suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities, regardless of your preferred method of communication. Providing contact information is optional.
