Reporting an Absence
Report an Absence
To report an excused absence, you can do one of the following:
- Submit an online form by clicking on the link above: Report Absence Online
- Call the school's attendance hotline at 754-322-3403
- Submit a note to the school's Front Office Staff

Here are FAQ questions and answers for parents and schools:
1. How will absences be excused for precautions related to COVID-19?
Parents must report their child's absence directly to the school. The school must be able to code the reason for absence accurately.
Absences can be reported from the school's website via the online absence form, the attendance hotline, or by note to the front office.
2. We are keeping our child home as a precaution. How do we report the absence to be excused?
If your child has not had contact with someone that is likely to have COVID-19 and you are keeping your child home as a precaution to mitigate the spread of disease, use the following process:
Option 1: Online Absence Form
1. From the school's website, go to Contact, then select Report an Absence
2. Click "REPORT ABSENCE ONLINE" to expand the form
3. Line 7. Reason for Absence: select "Special Event (Principal approved)"
4. Line 8. Explanation: Type "Precautions related to COVID-19"
5. Complete the rest of the form and click Submit. A copy of the submission will be emailed to you.
Option 2: Attendance Hotline
1. On your child's school website, call the attendance hotline phone number listed in the Contact Information box of the Report an Absence page.
2. Call to leave a message with all of the necessary information for the attendance clerk to record the absence.
3. My child has symptoms similar to COVID-19 (fever, cough, difficulty breathing). How should I report the absence?
If your child has flu-like symptoms, the District recommends keeping your child away from school for at least 3 days and until the child is symptom-free for 24 hours.
Report the absence as an "illness of student."
Option 1: Online Absence Form
1. From the school's website, go to Contact, then select Report an Absence
2. Click "REPORT ABSENCE ONLINE" to expand the form
3. Line 7. Reason for Absence: select "Illness of student"
4. Line 8. Explanation: Type a brief explanation for the attendance clerk.
5. Complete the rest of the form and click Submit. A copy of the submission will be emailed to you.
Option 2: Attendance Hotline
1. On your child's school website, call the attendance hotline phone number listed in the Contact Information box of the Report an Absence page.
2. Call to leave a message with all of the necessary information for the attendance clerk to record the absence.
4. How do I report the absence if my child has been medically diagnosed with COVID-19?
The District codes communicable diseases differently from typical illnesses for students.
· If the student has been diagnosed with COVID-19, on the Online Absence Form select "Student has a communicable disease".
· For "Line 8. Explanation:" on the online form, please indicate the diagnosis.
If you choose to call the Attendance Hotline, please indicate in your message that the child has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
