BCPS Launches Inaugural Esports Tournament
Competition Takes Place on Saturday, October 29, 2022

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Students and Staff
WHAT:
BCPS is launching its first Esports tournament featuring the video game Rocket League, a fast-paced game of cars playing soccer that is rated E (for Everyone). The competition includes teams of three players each representing BCPS middle schools, high schools and center schools. The teams put their gaming skills to the test during the video game as they compete for a grand prize of $1,000, second place prize of $750, and third place prize of $500.
The popularity of Esports continues to grow nationwide. Research shows it helps to build spatial reasoning skills, which assist students in STEM. It is also an inclusive sport, creating a sense of belonging and shared purpose to support social and emotional growth.
