Westglades Middle School students who participate in the Finance Academy and Pre-Engineering program demonstrated their skills by earning industry credentials in 2021. Westglades had 408 students earn industry certifications last school year.
Industry certifications are developed by trade associations or industry groups. These certifications show mastery or competency in specific knowledge, skills or processes that can be measured against a set of industry standards.
At Westglades Middle School, 154 students received their Digital Tool certificates which indicates skills and knowledge in word processing, spreadsheets, multimedia presentations, digital arts, cybersecurity, and coding. Westglades also had 191 students receive Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The MOS certifications shows mastery in some of the most widely used applications used across multiple disciplines and offer a set of skills that future employers will desire.
