WHAT:
Students and Coconut Creek Police officers hit the paint in a friendly game of basketball to establish and nurture positive interactions between Coconut Creek families and law enforcement.

WHY:
Hoops for Harmony focuses on engaging Lyon Creek Middle School students and the community in discussions and debates with law enforcement officers to share perspectives, deepen connections and increase understanding about law enforcement actions. On October 26, from 5-6 p.m., there will be informative sessions for officers and community members to interact and explore youth engagement initiatives. At 6 p.m., students and officers face off in a friendly game of basketball. The evening also includes the participation of the Miami Heat Dancers and mascot Burnie, student performances, and competitions between the community and officers.
