Broward County Public Schools
Dear Parents and Guardians,
All juniors will have the opportunity to take the SAT School Day test on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, during the regular school day. This test is being offered at no cost to students and no registration is necessary.
What is the SAT?
“The SAT is a standardized college entrance exam that is accepted by every college in the U.S. and over 600 institutions internationally. It assesses the knowledge and skills your child is learning in the classroom—the same skills that are key to success in college and career.”
Why is it on a school day?
Typically, the test is only offered on weekends, but we are providing this opportunity during the school day so that your child will be comfortable by testing in a familiar place and so that parents and students are free from the burden of arranging transportation to an unfamiliar test site. Also, school day testing won’t disrupt weekend plans, responsibilities, or family time.
What is the SAT used for?
The SAT scores are often used for college admission, but the scores can also be used to satisfy Florida state graduation testing requirements in reading and math. For more information about state testing requirements and concordant scores, please visit https://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/7764/urlt/gradrequirefsa.pdf
What does my child need to be prepared for this test?
You may visit https://sat.collegeboard.org/practice for more information, including practice tests and sample questions. Calculators will be provided but students may bring their own. If you would like information on SAT approved calculators, please visit https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/what-to-bring-do/calculator-policy.
This is a great opportunity for our students, and we are pleased to be able to offer it at no cost to all juniors. Please visit www.satschoolday.org/parents to learn more. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Tanisha Scott, Student Assessment Specialist, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
