Pembroke Lakes Elementary School Named a 2018/19 Microsoft Showcase School
September 13, 2018
Congratulations to Pembroke Lakes Elementary School for being named a 2018/19 Microsoft Showcase School. Pembroke Lakes Elementary was selected for its commitment to educational transformation and the successful integration of technology into teaching and learning. This includes the school’s commitment to the District’s Digital Classrooms initiative, which is offered at Pembroke Lakes for grades two through five. The Digital Classrooms program provides a 1:1 student to device ratio, allowing teachers to maximize and personalize learning through digital resources, online instructional materials and other digital tools. Pembroke Lakes also enhances student learning through interactive Skype opportunities with experts in fields students are studying and by organizing virtual field trips, such as virtual field trips to museums to allow students to experience famous artwork and items of interest.
Pembroke Lakes Elementary is the only school in the District and one of only five schools in Florida selected by Microsoft as a Showcase School this school year. Pembroke Lakes will now work closely with Microsoft to continue expanding learning opportunities through technology. In addition, it will host and mentor representatives from schools across our community and around the globe to share information, best practices and strategies.
“Being selected as a Microsoft Showcase School is an amazing honor and recognition of the passion our teachers and staff have for creating innovative learning environments for all our students,” said Pembroke Lakes Elementary Principal Marsha Wagner. “We look forward to sharing our experiences and finding innovative ways to equip our students with the tools needed for success inside and outside of the classroom.”
“Microsoft Showcase Schools are shining examples of those applying purpose-driven innovation in a variety of ways to build connection, motivate students and to create community in and out of school,” said Anthony Salcito, Vice President, Worldwide Education, Microsoft. “These schools are truly transforming learning and providing more personalized education to students, empowering them to achieve more.”
